Malus Root: AKA the Non-Recipe Recipe

One of the best things about working with high-quality ingredients is that it doesn’t take a lot to transform them into something simple and delicious, and Malus is no different. Because it has a right-out-of-the orchard flavor profile, its bright, apple-driven quality is a great match with a wide variety of flavors. One of the most classic cocktail mixers is ginger beer, which has found a place in everything from the Moscow Mule to a simple spirit and soda, and when you treat the live resin-infused Malus as the “spirit” base, a simple splash of ginger beer is all it takes to craft a quality cannacocktail.

This “non recipe recipe” is so simple – simply pour one can of Malus over ice and top with high-quality ginger beer – but can also be customized to be a seasonal favorite year-round. With summer upon us, a slice of fresh grilled peach offered the perfectly sweet match to the spicy notes in the drink, but your garnish can change with the seasons. Try a lime wedge in the springtime for a splash of bright freshness, or lean into the flavors of the holidays in fall and winter with a chunk of candied ginger or sprig of thyme.
