Malus BBQ Sauce Pulled Chicken Sliders

Pulled BBQ chicken sliders are an easy crowd pleaser – even more so when infused with Malus! This surprisingly simple recipe for BBQ sauce is something you may want to keep on hand in your fridge – but adding it to the star entree in the form of these pulled chicken sandwiches is an easy home run this Labor Day weekend, any time you’re hosting, or when you just want to indulge yourself in something delicious and low-dose.

Malus BBQ Sauce

1 can Malus

⅓ cup tomato paste

¼ cup apple cider vinegar

3 tablespoons maple syrup

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon liquid smoke

½ teaspoon chili powder

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Black pepper to taste

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients, whisking to incorporate. Bring to a boil over low heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping the sides of the pot. Remove from heat and let cool.

Malus BBQ Chicken Sliders

(serves four)

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

2 cups Malus BBQ sauce

8 King’s Hawaiian rolls

½  red onion, sliced

Colby jack cheese slices

¼ cuop mayonnaise

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Without separating the rolls, slice the hawaiian rolls in half. Set top half to the side. Lay bottom half in a cast iron skillet or oven safe pan. Add shredded chicken to the BBQ sauce and stir until fully coated. Spread chicken and sauce mixture across the bottom half of the rolls. Top with sliced red onion and cheese. Slather a thin layer of mayonnaise on the other half of the rolls, and then assemble the sliders by putting the top back on.

Bake for 25 minutes or until melty. Serve immediately, or keep in the oven at 200 degrees for guests to self-serve warm sliders throughout the party.
